The last webinar

The last webinar was about Long Term Operation, up to and beyond 60 years and took place on:

Date: 18th of February 2026
Time: 15:00 – 16:30 (UTC+1)
Platform: Microsoft Teams

Webinar information

The long term operation (LTO) of existing nuclear power plants is key to continue to provide reliable, low-carbon electricity. To prove LTO of a power plant a complete comprehensive safety assessment beyond a previously established time frame is performed. LTO is considered for many NPPs up to 60 years of operation, and currently even for beyond 60 years of operation. This webinar will discuss organizational and technical issues connected with ageing management and LTO up to and beyond 60 years of operation. Additionally, experiences and lessons learned from implementation and improvement of systematic ageing management will be discussed. Lastly, activities related to LTO justification and demonstration like periodic safety reviews and license renewal applications will be discussed.

We want to thank the speakers that shared their knowledge during the webinar:

-    Rodrigo Miri (Atucha NPP, Argentina): Atucha I LTO, strategy & lessons learned
-    Lorenzo Stefanini (NRG PALLAS): Effective approach to Long Term Operation justification: a case for 60 to 80 years lifetime extension

The webinar was moderated by Frederic Blom of NRG PALLAS.
