Sustainable Energy at the Energy & Health Campus

Significant work is underway at the Energy & Health Campus in Petten to develop a future-proof energy supply. A key step in this effort is the collaboration between NRG PALLAS and Zwanendal. Zwanendal's solar park and battery system will provide the Energy & Health Campus with sustainably generated power while also helping to prevent grid congestion.

Sustainable power, smart distribution

Zwanendal's solar park, with a capacity of nearly 6 megawatts, will be directly connected to the Energy & Health Campus. This direct connection allows the generated power to be used efficiently, including for the construction and future operation of the PALLAS reactor. A smart battery system will ensure power is also available when the sun is not shining. This allows energy consumption at the Energy & Health Campus to be better aligned with its generation.

A solution for grid congestion

The electricity grid in the Petten region is congested. This means it is difficult to draw additional power from or feed it back into the grid. By generating and using sustainable energy locally, the load on the grid is reduced. This is not only beneficial for the environment but also improves the reliability of the power supply at the Energy & Health Campus.

Long-term partnership

The collaboration between NRG PALLAS and Zwanendal is a long-term partnership. In the coming years, the system will be expanded further and is expected to be linked to other sustainable sources, such as a wind turbine.

A step forward in sustainability

With this project, NRG PALLAS and Zwanendal are taking a significant step toward a sustainable and reliable energy supply. The solar park and battery system contribute to climate objectives and are preparing the Energy & Health Campus for the future.
