Construction
60 kilometers north of Amsterdam, near the village of Petten, a new reactor for medical isotopes is being built. This new reactor will eventually replace the High Flux Reactor, which has been in operation since 1961, to ensure the continued production of medical isotopes in the future.

30.000 patiënts a day
Since the second half of 2022, the eastern side of the Energy & Health Campus has been undergoing transformation to enable the construction of the PALLAS-reactor and the surrounding facilities. Upon completion of construction, PALLAS Programme will be a complete infrastructure with the capacity to supply medical radioisotopes for more than 30,000 patients per day. As the number of patients treated with medical isotopes increases every year, the demand for such diagnostics and treatments is expected to continue growing. The PALLAS Programme is therefore vital.
