NRG PALLAS donates check to Burgerbrug Walk-in Center
Survey among local residents raises €4,200 for a good cause
On the day the official starting signal was given for the construction of the PALLAS-reactor, Program Director Peter Dijk handed over a check for 4,200 euros to Wendy Borst – Roozendaal of the Burgerbrug Walk-in Center.
In July, the first survey was conducted among residents living within a 10-kilometer radius of the PALLAS construction site in Petten. More than 800 people took the time to complete the online questionnaire. As a token of appreciation, PALLAS donated €5 for each completed survey to a special local initiative: the Burgerbrug Walk-in Center.
This is a place where cancer patients and their loved ones can find support, a listening ear, or simply some peace and quiet. The choice to support the walk-in center aligns with the mission of NRG PALLAS. The future PALLAS-reactor – like the current HFR – will contribute daily to the diagnosis and treatment of more than 30,000 patients worldwide.

Wendy Borst-Roozendaal: ”We greatly appreciate that NRG PALLAS has found such a creative way to turn local residents’ involvement into support for our walk-in center. This contribution allows us to give new energy to our meaningful, and above all, deeply appreciated, work.“
Peter Dijk: “We believe it’s important to stay closely connected with our community and local residents, and to understand how they have experienced the preparatory construction activities. It’s a positive sign that so many people took the time to complete our survey. By doing so, they’ve helped make this donation to the walk-in center possible. We’re proud to support this local initiative, which provides care and support to people affected by cancer and their loved ones, right here in the local region”.
Annual survey
The resident survey will be repeated annually. The goal is to continuously monitor the experience of the construction activities in the area, to gain insight into any concerns or needs regarding communication, and to track the disturbance experienced during the construction phase. The surveys are conducted by an independent market research agency.
The PALLAS-reactor: vital for life
NRG PALLAS specializes in the production of medical isotopes and the development of advanced nuclear technologies. The new PALLAS-reactor will replace the current High Flux Reactor and ensure the supply of isotopes for the diagnosis and treatment of 30,000 patients per day. This number is expected to increase due to the introduction of new treatments using medical isotopes and the growing number of patients with cancer and cardiovascular diseases worldwide.
