Houzheng Wu
Houzheng Wu, D.Phil. received his bachelor (B Eng), master degree (M Eng) and doctoral degree (D Phil) in materials science and engineering. He has nearly 40 years of research experience in advanced ceramics, composites and nuclear graphite, including processing and manufacture technology, microstructure and property characterisation, and engineering application of materials. He was a professor in Tianjin University, Research Fellow in Oxford University and then Reader in Loughborough University before taking the CTO and VP position in SIAMC in 2021. Since then, he has been leading nuclear graphite grade development and manufacture in mass-production scale, reactor core component machining and related metrology and NDT inspection, neutron irradiation qualification, as well as technical development of coated graphite and carbon-based energy materials. The title of his presentation today is “Development of Individual Nuclear-Grade Graphite Materials for both HTGR and MSR Reactors: Process Control, Qualification, and Application Readiness”.
