Marie Berthelot

Marie Berthelot, Ph.D., graduated from Sorbonne University (Paris), and joined EDF 17 years ago, dedicating her career to advancing low-carbon technologies and their integration into the energy system. She led R&D projects and teams on renewable energy in France and in the UK, driving innovation and supporting EDF Renewables internationally in this sector.

Today, Marie serves as Director of the Materials Ageing Institute (MAI), a global collaborative research hub that brings together nuclear operators, vendors, and research centers to address material ageing in nuclear power plants. By sharing data, experience, and advanced modeling, MAI anticipates degradation processes and enhances the durability of nuclear components and structures. This work plays a critical role in supporting safer, longer-lasting nuclear energy worldwide, reinforcing EDF’s commitment to sustainability and operational excellence.
