In Memoriam Frans Saris

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Prof. Dr. Frans W. Saris.

Frans Saris served as Director of the Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) from 1996 to 2002. He was a passionate and visionary leader, with a strong commitment to the energy transition. He was deeply involved in all aspects of sustainable energy conversion and maintained a critical perspective on the use of nuclear energy.

Our NRG PALLAS organization has its roots in ECN. NRG was established in 1998 through the merger of the nuclear divisions of ECN and KEMA. At the time, NRG operated as a general partnership within ECN and went on to launch the PALLAS initiative in 2003.

Our thoughts are with his children, family, and loved ones. We wish them strength and courage in coping with this profound loss.
