On the 10th of November, Minister Jan Anthonie Bruijn visited NRG PALLAS to be informed about the importance of the new PALLAS-reactor for a secure supply of medical isotopes for diagnosis and therapy of patients.
During the visit, NRG PALLAS and the minister spoke about the opportunities to ensure that more nuclear medicines for the treatment of various types of cancer are developed and brought to market more quickly. The importance of the new reactor for the realization of the Netherlands' nuclear ambitions was also addressed. The minister was extensively briefed on the status of the construction process. Afterward, he expressed being impressed and stated that “we should be proud of everything that is happening and being accomplished in Petten.”
In a message on social media, he said: "A new nuclear reactor (PALLAS) for medical isotopes is being built and that is very good news: this means that many patients with often life-threatening diseases, such as cancer and cardiovascular disease, can continue to count on these medical isotopes for scans and treatments. Today I visited @nrgpallas to learn more about this construction project and how important this new nuclear reactor is for healthcare. Not only for patients in Europe, but worldwide".
