Michiel Eielts is Managing Director Benelux at Equinix and Chairman of the Dutch Data Center Association. With more than 25 years of experience in the IT and telecommunications industry, he has led organizations through rapid technological change, market expansion, and digital transformation across Europe.

At Equinix, Michiel focuses on the intersection of digital infrastructure, energy, and sustainability, helping address one of Europe’s fastest-growing challenges: powering the rapid growth of digital services and AI in a reliable and sustainable way.

As demand for AI-driven infrastructure continues to accelerate, he works closely with industry leaders, policymakers, and energy partners on the future energy mix required to support Europe’s digital economy. His work increasingly focuses on how digital infrastructure and energy systems can evolve together, including the development of future energy hubs and the exploration of innovative low-carbon energy solutions, such as Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), to support the next generation of data centers.
