Nora van der Wenden 

Nora van der Wenden is Manager Nuclear Ecosystem and Deputy Director of Nuclear Energy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, a role she took up in January. 

In this position, she is responsible for strengthening the Dutch nuclear ecosystem, with a focus on themes as nuclear workforce, innovation, supply chain and fuel. Exploring the opportunities for small modular reactors (SMRs) and fostering international collaboration also form key parts of her portfolio.

Nora brings extensive experience in science and policy. She previously served as Director of Research and Science Policy at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, and held several positions within the Ministry of Economic Affairs, including industry policy, high tech startups, human capital development and spatial economic policy, and worked in the scientific domain.

She studied Biopharmaceutical Sciences in Leiden, including a training in radioactivity at Delft University of Technology, and obtained her PhD from Leiden University.
